For nearly 20 years, Jen has led efforts to bridge the gaps between education policy, politics and practice to improve outcomes for children. Since Jen started at ConnCAN in 2010, she has grown a nationally recognized research and policy team, helped craft and pass significant state education legislation, served as spokesperson, built out a grasstops and grassroots community engagement effort, developed strategy and led the formation of statewide coalitions to pass and protect statewide education reforms.  
 
Before joining ConnCAN, Jen served as Senior Research Analyst at the American Institutes for Research (AIR), where she advised national studies of Title I implementation and managed national policy centers on comprehensive school reform and supplemental educational services. She also worked in Washington, DC as a consultant whose clients included the national Center on Innovation and Improvement. Jen began her career in Washington, DC at the national office of the American Federation of Teachers, where she worked on political campaigns and on policy, including the Redesigning Low-Performing Schools Initiative. She has written numerous research, policy and technical assistance tools and conducted training for parent organizations across the country. Jen is a graduate of Peabody College at Vanderbilt University and earned a Master of Public Policy from Georgetown University. She is a Connecticut native, certified teacher and mom to two great kids and one goofy dog.
